May 3-9, 2026 marks National Hospice Palliative Ca May 3-9, 2026 marks National Hospice Palliative Care Week in Canada. This year's theme is Palliative Care Everywhere. Many people in Canada still face barriers to accessing palliative care due to factors such as age, location, diagnosis, race or ethnicity, and housing instability. Every family facing the challenges of a life-limiting illness deserves the best possible care and support. Whether in hospice, at home, in long-term care, or in hospital, palliative care can and should be available in any setting to meet individual needs. Our organization, specifically, our volunteer program, is privileged to work with a group of amazing professionals in this field. Over the past year, our volunteer program has contributed 1476 visiting hours, 1430 baking hours and 6073 opportunities to connect with patients and their families. This National Hospice Palliative Care Week, let’s come together to call for equitable access to quality hospice palliative care for every community, everywhere. These sessions will take place at the After Trauma Empowerment Network at 2836 Highway 2. Our next Social Drop-in Session is this Wednesday, Our next Social Drop-in Session is this Wednesday, April 15 at our office (89 Queen Street in Truro). The drop in is free, and no registration is required. These sessions are an opportunity for anyone who is grieving to meet new people and find support in an informal social setting. Join us for our annual golf tournament on Friday, Join us for our annual golf tournament on Friday, July 24 at Truro Golf Club! The tournament is a 9-hole four person scramble, and includes supper at the Clubhouse, prizes and 50/50. Registration begins at 1pm. Registration is $600 per team of 4 (or $150 per person) in support of the programs and services of the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society. And we need your help!
