The Hug Centre

Colchester East Hants Hospice Society is extremely proud and excited to launch The HUG Center; a space of hope and understanding for the grieving.

Over the past number of years, we have spent a great deal of time listening to the needs of the people we serve. With the help and support of our team and volunteer board of directors we have spent countless hours coming up with ways to build capacity within our community. The philosophy of the HUG Center is to offer a space to help those that are struggling with their grief journey. The space that we want to create isn’t always at our office but rather in the communities that we serve. It is about creating relationships and developing collaborative partnerships with groups and organizations in the community. We understand the need for trust and transparency and our organization is dedicated to continue to find ways to bring our grief programs and services.

We look forward to welcoming you and are grateful that you are here.

Mission

We are a caring, community-based organization who educates, supports, and provides tools to empower those who are struggling with grief. We honor your journey through a variety of programs and services to encourage hope and understanding for the griever.

Who we are & What we do?

Colchester East Hants Hospice Society was founded in 2003 as a grassroots effort to further support people and their families who are dying and grieving beyond what is available through the health care system. We receive no core funding and our programs and services and are completely community funded. The organization, led by a Board of Directors and an Executive Director, has grown to include four (4) additional staff and over forty-five (45) volunteers doing a variety of roles including visitation, special events and other fundraising initiatives. Creating a safe space for you to understand and navigate grief is the basis of everything that we do.
