May 3-9, 2026 marks National Hospice Palliative Ca May 3-9, 2026 marks National Hospice Palliative Care Week in Canada. This year's theme is Palliative Care Everywhere.

Many people in Canada still face barriers to accessing palliative care due to factors such as age, location, diagnosis, race or ethnicity, and housing instability. Every family facing the challenges of a life-limiting illness deserves the best possible care and support. Whether in hospice, at home, in long-term care, or in hospital, palliative care can and should be available in any setting to meet individual needs.

Our organization, specifically, our volunteer program, is privileged to work with a group of amazing professionals in this field. Over the past year, our volunteer program has contributed 1476 visiting hours, 1430 baking hours and 6073 opportunities to connect with patients and their families.

This National Hospice Palliative Care Week, let’s come together to call for equitable access to quality hospice palliative care for every community, everywhere.
