Hospice Social Club

  • Hospice recognizes the mental and physical benefits of getting out of the house and coming together in the community. There are an abundance of groups, activities and events already happening in our community, so the Hospice Society has created a monthly social group to get you out and introduce you to what is going on!
  • Activities will vary from paint nights, to walks on local trails, to card nights, and more! Some activities will require registration and a fee however if this is a barrier for you then please do not hesitate to let us know as there may be subsidies available.
  • If you are interested in attending or have any ideas for future activities for the group please contact lpurdy@cehhospice.org or call our office at (902)893-3265!

Upcoming Events:

Pumpkin Carving October 19th 2pm- 4pm at Hospice

Paint Night November 8th 6pm-9pm at Hospice

Christmas Cookie Swap December 14th 6:30pm-8:30pm at Hospice

We asked Colchester East Hants Hospice Society Social Worker – specializing in Grief & Bereavement Support for Children & Youth – Laura McNutt: Why is Hospice important to you?

"Through working with children and youth in various capacities, I recognized that there is a need for more grief support with this demographic. When I was provided the opportunity to help children and youth in my own hometown of Truro with grief and bereavement programming, I couldn’t resist.

Experiencing grief at any stage in life is very difficult for individuals and families, and having that extra support is often important to them. My goal is to provide children and youth who are experiencing grief, healthy ways of coping with their loss in a positive, comfortable environment."

Laura started at Hospice Monday, July 8 and she will be working to develop new programs for the Fall.

Did you know!? ... This year, Hospice Society staff and volunteers helped with planting flowers on the beautiful Palliative Care Unit patio thanks to a generous donation and expertise provided from Lowland Gardens.

Though we operate as separate organizations, we value the partnership we have with the Colchester East Hants Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, with important projects like this one.
