Serena Lewis (MSW) will present: The Times They Are A-Changin’: What is a Palliative Approach To Care Requiring of Us Today?

It has been stated that it takes a village to raise a child. Our village is once again called upon in circumstances of dying, death and grief. Through embracing both aspects of the life span we respond through compassion and care as a community. Our medical and technological advancements have increased life spans and treatments for patients, but is there more to consider?

What does a palliative approach to care require of us in 2019 and how do we engage in our evolution of care that provides integration of person, family and community care?

***
Consider joining Colchester East Hants Hospice Society for a day of education and an opportunity to support an engaged community.

Did You Know... We are incredibly fortunate to have been gifted with pieces of handwork that can be found on display at our office located at 89 Queen Street!?

One of the pieces is a quilt that is displayed going up the stairway to the second floor. The quilt was made by Barb Bourne in memory of Joanne Venner.

We asked Colchester East Hants Hospice Society volunteer Keltie Bruce: Why is Hospice important to you?

"Hospice has added an important level of care available to patients and their families that many communities do not have access to. As a hospital visitor I see this regularly. Families are so appreciative of the services provided on a journey that is always stressful and sometimes lonely. It is a privilege to be able to help during that journey.

The care and professionalism exhibited by the staff on all levels is remarkable. As the Society grows I hope that more and more people will access the varied programs offered and that Hospice and palliative care will be more widely available everywhere."
