Holiday Grief Tip #4: Give yourself permission to be alone and slip away

When we are in pain often times we just want to run away, not just form our pain but from all opportunities for further pain or a reminder of our pain. For self-preservation we can isolate ourselves and stay in a place that is safe where we can be vulnerable and cry. During the holidays are no different. Your grief will continue to be unpredictable and it may surprise you either by making you want to stay where you are or run away. Both of these are okay. It’s ok to not be ok. You are the expert of your own experience. If you want to leave, that’s ok. You can leave, give your healing self permission to go and stay where you feel most safe.
