The Hospice Society is governed by a Board of Directors. There are currently 11 Directors from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Rod Jones – Past President 

Rod has been an insurance broker and business owner in Truro for the past 35 years. He has been dedicated to his community, giving time and knowledge to many organizations over the years, including Kinsmen Club of Truro, Truro School Bands Auxiliary, Colchester YMCA, Colchester Regional Hospital Foundation, Capital Campaign for the new hospital, Truro Chamber of Commerce, Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia, and Insurance Brokers Association of Canada. Rod has been a board member of CEHHS for the past 5 years.

Carrie MacLennan, Retired Accountant – Treasurer

Carrie MacLennan graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in business, majoring in accounting in her late forties. She owned and operated a seafood business with her husband while raising three children. Now retired after 26 years in both public and private practice, Carrie has been involved in Hospice for three years.

John McNeil, Radiologist – Secretary

Dr. Dave Henderson – Clinical Rep

Dave Henderson has been the Medical Director of the Colchester East Hants Palliative Care Program in Truro since 2004, with previous experiences at various Hospice/Palliative Care units since 1997. He was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. Previously President of both the Nova Scotia and the New Brunswick Hospice Palliative Care Association, Dr. Henderson is currently President Elect for the Canadian Society of Palliative Care Physicians, Chair of the Atlantic Palliative Medicine Group and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Dalhousie University.
